“The Marching Knights”

old south 7

The Marching Knights of Upson-Lee are perhaps one of the most visable organizations of Upson-Lee High School.  From performing at numerous football games throughout the fall season, to marching competitions throughout the Atlanta-metro and midwest Georgia areas, or even in local parades and other community events, the Marching Knights serve as wonderful ambassadors for Upson-Lee High School and Upson County, Georgia.

“Upson-Lee Symphonic Band”

The Upson-Lee Symphonic band is the premiere ensemble of the Upson-Lee band program throughout the winter and spring months.  The symphonic band is Upson-Lee’s only concert band ensemble and generally begins its season in mid-November and eventually culminating in a end of the year concert in May.  The Upson-Lee symphonic band typically plays music ranging in grade levels of 3-4.  Members of the symphonic band have also been chosen as participants in the University of Georgia Janfest honor band clinic, as well as the GMEA District 11 honor band.

“Upson-Lee Winterguard”

The Upson-Lee winterguard was formed in the winter of 2008 as an opportunity to allow members of the Upson-Lee Marching Knights Visual Ensemble to continue to perform and develop their skills throughout the winter months.  The winterguard quickly made a splash in the Southern Association for Performing Arts Circuit premiering as a Scholastic Regional A ensemble during their first competitive season.  During the 2009 season, the unit was promoted to Scholastic AAA  and eventually went on to receive the bronze medal at SAPA Championships.  In 2010, the group went on to continued success receiving numerous first and second place awards within the SAPA circuit, 1st place in Scholastic Regional A at the WGI Atlanta Power Regional, and a silver medal performance at SAPA Championships.
